Four-year old kindergarten (4K) is offered through the School District of Marshfield to all children free of charge who are four years old on or before September 1st. The four-year old kindergarten program is designed as a one-year preschool experience for children to attend in the year prior to their enrollment in general kindergarten. Four-year old kindergarten will meet Tuesday through Friday; half-day (AM or PM). Four-year old kindergarten is not a mandatory program; however, it is strongly encouraged for all children.
Four-year old programming lays the groundwork for future learning by creating an active, print-rich environment to increase confidence and the desire for more learning. Four-year old kindergarten students will learn the expectations of a classroom, which will result in a smooth transition into the all-day kindergarten curriculum.
Four-year old kindergarten enrollment is completed online. Click on Families and then Registration for information if you are new to the district or have students already in the district. Late registration will not guarantee the desired site. If a computer or help is needed, please call the Board of Education Office 715.387.1101 ext. 1101. You may attach your child’s birth or baptismal certificate or bring it to the Board of Education Office, 1010 E 4th Street, Marshfield, WI for verification purposes.
If you reside outside the School District of Marshfield, you MUST also complete the Open Enrollment Application. The Open Enrollment dates are February 6 through April 28. Information and the online application are available on the Department of Public Instruction (DPI) website. For more information, please call 715.387.1101, ext. 1109.
Your child’s placement information will be confirmed by logging into Skyward Family Access over the summer. The information will also include an invitation to attend an open house that will help make a smooth transition to 4K. You and your child will have an opportunity to meet the teacher and receive up-to-date information at the open house.
We look forward to providing an excellent start to your child’s life of learning. We welcome questions any time. Please contact Erin Anderson at 715.387.1101 X1101.
