• Earliest Arrival: 7:25 AM - Supervision begins (During the school year)

    • Students wait near Door #2 and the Literacy Garden. 
      • Students are notified to enter by outside supervisions opening the door for students.

For student safety, please do not drop off students before 7:25 AM, as supervision is not available.

Drop-Off Time:

• Students can be dropped off - slightly before 7:30 AM.

  • Students will wait outside* until 7:37 am each morning

​​​*Inclement Weather Days: Students will be allowed to enter the cafeteria and stay there until 7:37am each day.

• Once doors open, students will enter the building and go to their lockers

• First hour starts at 7:45am. 

Drop-Off Procedures & Traffic Flow:

• Drop-Off students on South side of 6th Street between Apple Avenue and Palmetto Avenue

OR

• East side of Palmetto Avenue between 8th Street and the entrance to the school visitor parking lot

Reminders:

• Students should exit on the passenger side of the vehicle only.

• You do not need to pull all the way up to the front entrance to drop off—use any part of the designated areas.

• Limit your stop time to keep traffic flowing.

• Obey No Parking/Stopping/Standing signs posted by the City (7:00 AM–4:00 PM on Palmetto Avenue) - While Marshfield Middle School and the School District of Marshfield do not enforce these signage restrictions, we do not endorse violation of city regulations.

• Do not stop in areas marked with X’s (see drop-off map).

• Follow the 15 mph school zone speed limit, and watch for pedestrians and crosswalks.

• The staff and visitor parking lots are NOT an area for students to be dropped off. These doors will be locked and secured.

Following these procedures ensures a safe and efficient morning drop-off for all students. 🚗🏫

Dismissal Time: 

• Student dismissal is at 2:55 PM.

Pickup Procedures/ Curbside Pickup Guidelines:

• The only designated pickup area is on the east side of Palmetto Avenue between 8th Street and the entrance to the school visitor parking lot.

  • Your student can be picked up anywhere in this area

Reminders:

• 🚫Do not stop in the bus loading zone or other restricted areas (marked with X’s on the map).

• 🚗Remain in your vehicle and pull forward when space opens up to keep the line moving.

• 🚌Be aware that bus traffic begins exiting around 2:55 PM.

• 🚫The staff and visitor parking lots are NOT an area for students to be picked up. These doors will be locked and secured.

📌 Please share these instructions with anyone responsible for picking up your child to ensure a smooth and safe dismissal process.

Checking In for Late Arrival

• Upon arrival, enter through the office.
• Ring the doorbell
• The secretary will assist with the check-in process.
• If the school has been notified by the parent/guardian prior to the student's early departure, the student does not need to be signed in and a parent does not need to be present for drop-off. 
• If the school has NOT been notified by the parent/guardian, the parent needs to come into the office and sign-in the student. 
  • After the parent has signed in the student, and the student(s) will report to class.

Early Dismissal

• Parents/Guardians: Notify the school in advance via phone, email, or written note stating the reason for early dismissal.
• Students with prior notification: Get a pass from the office before going to class, in the morning.  Students give the pass to the teacher that they have during the hour in which they need to leave.
  • If the school has been notified by the parent/guardian prior to the student's early departure, the student does to need to be signed out and a parent does not need to be present for pickup. 
  • If the school has NOT been notified by the parent/guardian, the parent needs to come into the office and request the student dismissal.
    • After the parent has requested the student, and the student(s) will report to the office and the parent/guardian will sign them out. 
• Attendance is marked as according for the timeframe gone.

Depart/Return: Office Entry

• Students leaving early or coming in late, must exit or enter through the office and use door 2
• Parents/Guardian/Other Approved Pickups must sign out student if the school is not notified in advanced.
• Students will only be released to authorized individuals listed by the parent/guardian.

Depart/Return: Pickup Area

• Wait for your student in the parking area (black and orange cement balls) marked visitor.
   

Important Notes:

• Students with medical disabilities requiring assistance must be accompanied when leaving school.
• No student shall be released to anyone who is not authorized such custody by the parents.

If your child will be absent for three or more consecutive days for a planned reason, such as a family trip, surgery, medical appointments, or college visits, ect. follow these steps:

• Request Form:
  • Parents or students need to request a pre-approved absence request form from the office. 
• Return Form -Prior to Absence
  • Parents or students can return the completed, physical form to the office
  • Alternatively, you can email the form to the secretary(s): Click Here to Email

  • Building Administration will review request. 
  • Office will notify parent if request is NOT APPROVED.

• Review Attendance Policy:
  • Students may be excused for up to 10 days per school year for pre-planned absences.
  • Missed coursework must be completed.

• Common Pre-Planned Absences Include:
  • Medical, dental, or legal appointments that can’t be scheduled outside school hours.
  • Funerals of relatives.
  • College visits or job fairs.
  • Family vacations.

Parents may request students' homework when:

• reporting an absence

OR

• requesting a pre-approved leave.  

Please note: Most student assignments can be accessed and completed through Canvas on their device.

Homework requests can be made at the time of absence report or prior to pre-approved leave.

You can submit appointment slips or medical documentation using any of the following methods:

• Drop Off: Bring a paper copy to the school office. If needed, documentation can also be brought in at a later date.

• Email: Send a screenshot of the appointment slip/reminder to the secretary Click Here to Email

• Show at Check-In: Present a screenshot of the appointment slip/reminder to the secretary when picking up or returning your student.

An unexcused absence or tardy is

• One of which school authorities do not approve.
  • All schoolwork and/or time missed will be made up at the discretion of the teacher for the days absent.

Students with unexcused absences or tardiness are considered truant as defined under SS118.15-16 and may be assigned detention or in-school suspension.

Any parent/guardian or visitor wishing to enter the school MUST do so by using the main entrance (Door# 2 ).

Upon entering the building through the first set of doors, individuals will need to ring the doorbell, identify themselves, and state their business.
