What is Multi-tier Systems of Support (MTSS)?
MTSS stands for Multi-Tiered System of Supports. It is a framework schools use to ensure that all students receive high-quality teaching and, if needed, additional supports based on their individual needs. MTSS supports academic, behavioral, and social-emotional growth — helping all students succeed.
At Marshfield, MTSS ensures that students receive support early, before small problems become big ones. Everyone — including families — is part of the team!

Federal and state laws support the use of early, evidence-based interventions in schools:
IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act)
Requires schools to use data-based interventions before considering special education.
Wisconsin State Law
Requires schools to use progress monitoring data from at least two intensive interventions when identifying a Specific Learning Disability (SLD)
The goal of MTSS is to help students succeed with general education supports whenever possible.
