This information is accessible to staff in the university administration and admissions offices.
Note: Federal guidelines require the collection of race/ethnicity and is used in aggregate for federal reporting. Demographic information is not a factor in the direct admission decision process.
Acceptance
Qualifying students will receive their Direct Admit official admission offer via email, hard copy letter, and/or their high school student portal between late July and early October. The communication will specify which UW universities or campuses have offered admission. To accept their offer, students must complete a Direct Admit form. This acceptance will connect them with the University for additional information and to indicate their preferred UW universities for further exploration. There is no fee to accept the offer, and students can connect with as many universities as they wish.

Directions for MHS Students/Families
Dear Parent/Guardian:
Marshfield High School is participating in a new program called Direct Admit Wisconsin. Direct Admit Wisconsin is an initiative by the Universities of Wisconsin to proactively offer admission to qualifying high school students in between their junior and senior years of high school. Direct admission removes the traditional application process and instead uses data provided by the high school to admit students to universities.
Based on a review of your student's 11th grade transcript (grade point average and academic coursework), you and your student may receive an email in July of 2024 indicating which UWs are providing them direct admission, and the next steps they are to take in order to learn more about enrolling within the Universities of Wisconsin if they so choose. Please know that participating in this program does not commit your student to attend the Universities of Wisconsin. To facilitate the administration of this program, the following information will be shared by the school with the Universities of Wisconsin pending your opt-in status: Name, WISEid, Local Student District ID, contact information, legal sex, race/ethnicity, GPA and high school transcripts.
Direct Admit Wisconsin is a Universities of Wisconsin initiative. Currently, it does not include the Wisconsin Technical Colleges, Wisconsin private colleges and W-Lacrosse, UW-Madison, or UW- Eau Claire. As of now, there are 10 UWs participating in Direct Admit Wisconsin for Fall 2025. They are UW-Green Bay, UW-Milwaukee, UW-Oshkosh, UWParkside, UW-Platteville, UW-River Falls, UW-Stevens Point, UW-Stout, UW-Superior and UW-Whitewater.
Students continue to have the option to complete the University of Wisconsin online application for universities if students/families are not interested in the Direct Admit Wisconsin program. Additionally, students can wait to receive admission decisions from other schools before accepting a direct admit or traditional admission offer. Participating students who find out they were not directly admitted but desire admission to a specific university is still strongly encouraged to apply to that university following the school’s normal application procedures. Additional student information and letters of recommendation may be considered in these cases. It is important to note that Direct Admit Wisconsin is not a mandatory program. For current year juniors, Marshfield High School is taking an “opt-in” approach to provide families the choice to participate, if interested. There is no cost to participate in Direct Admit Wisconsin. For further information on Direct Admit Wisconsin please click here.
If you want your student to participate in Direct Admit Wisconsin, please log into your Skyward Family Access Account and click on the “Direct Admit Wisconsin” tab. Directions are outlined on the next page. Interested students and families are encouraged to complete this process as soon as possible.

THE WISCONSIN GUARANTEE
For the Class of 2026
General Information
What is “The Wisconsin Guarantee”?
In March 2024, the University of Wisconsin System introduced "The Wisconsin Guarantee." This program is driven by legislation ACT 95 and requires Wisconsin public universities to accept students who qualify. Qualifiers are Wisconsin students who are in the top 10% of their class at the end of their 11th grade year to 12 of Wisconsin’s 13 public universities. The exception is UW-Madison, which requires students to be in the top 5% of their class. To benefit from The Wisconsin Guarantee, eligible students must still apply to their chosen university.
“The Wisconsin Guarantee” at Marshfield High School
-
The graduating class of 2025 will be the first to benefit from The Wisconsin Guarantee.
-
In early fall, MHS will notify students in the graduating class if they are in the top 5% or 10% of the class and include it on their official transcript.
Eligibility
- To be eligible for "The Wisconsin Guarantee," students must attend high school in Wisconsin and meet the following criteria:
- Class Rank: The student must be in the top 5% of their class for UW-Madison or the top 10% for all other Wisconsin universities, as indicated on their 11th grade transcript.
- Course Completion: The student must complete the required courses for admission.
- Application Deadlines: Students in the top 5% or 10% must submit their applications by the "Early Action Deadline" for UW-Madison and by the "Regular Admission Deadline" for all other Wisconsin universities.
Note: Revocation of Admission: The University of Wisconsin System may revoke an admission offer if a student:
- Fails to receive a high school diploma,
- Engages in academic misconduct,
- Experiences significant grade declines after submitting their application, or
- Misrepresents their class rank.
- If a student remains in the top 5% or 10% throughout their senior year and does not fall under any of the above conditions, they will continue to qualify for The Wisconsin Guarantee.
- Transfer students who were in the top 5% or 10% in a previous school are not eligible for The Wisconsin Guarantee if they are no longer in the top 5% or 10% of their new school prior to the end of their junior year.
DIRECT ADMIT FOR MID STATE TECHNICAL COLLEGE
For the Class of 2026
Mid-State is partnering with local high schools to advance the 60 Forward initiative by removing admissions barriers to our college by admitting all seniors.
Admin Letter to Students/Families
Dear Parent/Guardian:
I’m writing to inform you of an important partnership between Mid-State Technical College and Marshfield High School that may benefit your child as they continue planning for College and Career Readiness. Mid-State and Marshfield High School have partnered to advance the 60 Forward initiative by removing admissions barriers to college by admitting all interested current year seniors at MHS to Mid-State. This collaboration would admit all interested seniors at Marshfield High School to Mid-State Technical College for the upcoming fall and spring terms. Once admitted, students will receive monthly updates and support from Mid-State Technical College to ensure post-secondary readiness. These 1:1, in-school sessions include the creation of an individualized pathway plan, FAFSA and scholarship support and career exploration support, all culminating with an on-campus event in May.
The goal of the 60 Forward initiative is to increase Wisconsin’s post-secondary attainment rate which will result in increased earning potential and economic mobility for our citizens and a skilled workforce for Wisconsin’s employers. At the national level, The Lumina Foundation’s report, A Stronger Nation, shared 60% of our national workforce, aged 25-64, will need a post-secondary credential by 2025 to meet the demands of industry and provide a stronger personal economic future. The Wisconsin Technical Colleges, the University of Wisconsin System, and the Wisconsin Association of Independent Colleges and Universities created the 60 Forward Initiative agreeing on the goal of increased post-secondary attainment of 60% by 2027. The current Wisconsin post- secondary attainment rates vary by county but range from 24%-62%.
The partnership between Marshfield High School and Mid-State helps support this important national initiative to increase our state’s post-secondary attainment rate. There are no drawbacks or cost for simply being admitted to Mid-State Technical College. Only the benefit of additional options and ease of entry should your child decide to enroll. Senior students at Marshfield High School seeking direct admission into Mid-State Technical college can click here to complete the online agreement form so Marshfield High School can share contact information with the Mid-State Technical College advisors associated with this initiative. Although we are excited to offer this opportunity, we also acknowledge that many students may have made other post- secondary plans, which is perfectly fine as the goal is to provide open access education and resources to all students. If for any reason, you do not wish to have your student have access to the direct admission program or resources, you do not need to do anything further and can simply disregard this notification.
Mid-State Technical College and Marshfield High School are excited to work together to remove barriers to post-secondary education and provide each student the support they need to be successful in tomorrow’s workforce. Students/families seeking additional information not included in this communication are encouraged to schedule an appointment with their school counselor.
Respectfully,
MHS Administration
